Mel B Secretly Married

Spice Girl Melanie 'Mel B' Brown was secretly married to boyfriend Stephen Belafonte in June. Mel B and Belafonte and were married in a Las Vegas ceremony on June 6. A clerk at the Clark County Marriage Bureau confirms there is a marriage certificate. Mel B's representative says, "the couple are 'very happy' and 'very much in love.' They have had a deep friendship for a number of years," adding, "that has developed into a loving relationship." As to the reason for secrecy, Mel's rep says there was none. "They just value their privacy." It is the bride's second marriage. Brown previously was married to Jimmy Gulzar, a former backup dancer for the Spice Girls. Gulzar is the father of Brown's oldest daughter. Last week, a representative for Eddie Murphy said he had previously admitted to being the father of Brown's infant daughter, following the news that Brown had filed a Superior Court petition to legally establish him as the child's father.

'Judd Shocked'

Country star Wynonna Judd was left in a state of shock when she found out her husband D.R. Roach was arrested for aggravated sexual battery against a minor earlier this year. Judd filed for divorce from Roach just days after he was arrested and charged with three counts of battery against a 13-year-old in March. Judd couldn't believe her husband of four years was involved in such activity. She describes her reaction as one of "disbelief and shock," adding, "These are things that you read about and see on the news about people, and you think to yourself, 'Never in my family.'" Judd still has contact with her husband, and is finding it tough to stop wearing her wedding ring. She says, "It is hard to just detach overnight. I'm healing in my own time. And so I do wear my ring. We see each other and communicate through our lawyers and mediator. There are still personal and professional details to make decisions about." The couple, who married in 2003, had been estranged since December, and Roach entered rehab to battle alcoholism in February.

Moynahan Has Son

Bridget Moynahan and ex-boyfriend, New England Patriots' quarterback Tom Brady are new parents. Moynahan and Brady split up late last year after a three-year relationship. Moynahan gave birth to the baby in Los Angeles, Moynahan's publicist Christina Papadapoulos said in a statement. "Both mother and baby are doing well," she said. Brady's whereabouts weren't known. He wasn't on the field or sidelines for the first 15 minutes of practice and Patriots spokesman Stacey James said he didn't know when Brady would rejoin the team. Brady had said earlier this week that he would like a few days off for the birth of his first child, calling the event "a very joyous, happy situation." It was unknown if he arrived before the baby was born.

Nicole Richie Serves 82 Minutes

Nicole Richie quietly went to jail to serve her sentence for DUI while the spotlight was on Lindsay Lohan. Richie checked herself into Lynwood jail, where Paris did her time, and she left a free Woman after 82 minutes. According to the official website of the Los Angeles Sheriff's Dept., Richie checked in at 3:15 PM and was released at 4:37 PM. She was assigned to a cell for only 35 minutes. Richie was sentenced to four days in jail for driving the wrong way on a Los Angeles freeway while under the influence. She was given credit for 1 day because she was in jail for 6 hours after her arrest. A Sheriff's source says Richie was routinely processed and released according to normal operating rules. Overcrowding was a major factor in her early release. The Sheriff's Department released a statement regarding the 82-minute incarceration of Nicole Richie: "On August 23 2007, at 3:15 PM Miss Nicole Camille Richie reported to CRDF and surrendered herself following a July 27 arrest, she was sentenced to serve 96 hours in County Jail. Miss Richie was accompanied by her attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley and her boyfriend Joel Madden. Miss Richie was booked and processed into the jail system. Miss Richie was cooperative during the process. Based on her sentence and federal court guidelines, Miss Richie was released at 4:37 PM."

Judge Blocks Release

A Los Angeles judge has issued a temporary restraining order that prevents the release of a 1994 videotape documenting a breast augmentation surgery for Anna Nicole Smith. Superior Court Judge Mitchell L. Beckloff granted the order at the request of Smith's former attorney and executor of her will, Howard K. Stern. The injunction prevents the sale, distribution or dissemination of the videotape. In court documents, Stern accused Gerald Wayne Johnson, the Texas doctor who performed the surgery, of sending a tape showing the procedure to Thomas Riccio, a Los Angeles-based memorabilia dealer. Stern claims the surgery was taped without Smith's consent. Smith died in Florida in February at the age of 39. Johnson claims he routinely records surgeries with the patient's permission and promises to keep the video confidential "during the patient's lifetime." Johnson said he gave Riccio permission to use the video after Smith died. Stern claims Johnson's wife and Riccio would share in any proceeds from the sale of the videotape to various media outlets.

Simple Life Cancelled

Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie are out of a job after their reality show 'The Simple Life' has been canceled. The two proved a huge hit trying their hand at manual labor on the program, which generated Five series, but the E! network has dropped the show from next year's line-up. Rumors of an imminent end began when Fox dropped the series in 2005 and Hilton and Richie became embroiled in a mystery feud, which they have since resolved. The E! network picked up the series for the final season. Hilton and Richie’s turbulent personal lives continued to complicate filming, culminating in Hilton's imprisonment for a probation violation in June and reports Richie is expecting a baby as she too was sentenced to jail time for a DUI.

Britney Spears Accused

Britney Spears threw a baby bottle and threatened two photographers after they took pictures of her leaving a Las Vegas spa, the photographers claim in a statement. Spears yelled, "I am going to kill you!" and cursed at Andrew Deetz, a photographer who says he was beaten by Spears' bodyguard according to a statement released by Deetz's lawyers. "Deetz is preparing to sue," his lawyers said. The other photographer involved was Kyle Henderson. They both work for a celebrity photography company called Flynet Pictures, according to Daniel Kogan, a spokesman for Deetz's lawyers. The photographers were taking pictures of Spears as she and her children left the spa at the Wynn Las Vegas casino-hotel accompanied by two bodyguards. "One bodyguard, Cesar Julio Camera pushed Henderson against the Wall until Wynn security intervened and asked Henderson to leave," the statement said. "As they were about 30 paces away and walking in the opposite direction, Camera attacked Deetz from behind, threw him on the ground and punched and kicked him until security pulled him off," the statement said. "Afterward, Spears ran toward Henderson but was stopped by security, and then she threw a baby bottle at him," it said. "Then, in front of several other hotel guests and bystanders, Spears threatened to kill Deetz and said he should get a restraining order against her because she was going to kill him or hire someone that would," it said. Camera also previously confronted Deetz outside a boutique in Beverly Hills and told him, "I have unfinished business with you," the statement alleged. Deetz, who maintains he always kept a safe distance of approximately 30-50 feet while photographing Spears, says the attack caused him "multiple bruises to his face and head as well as injuries to his brain, neck and other parts of his body." He claims he continues to receive treatment for his injuries. Las Vegas police issued a summons for a charge of battery to Camera, the only person cited. He could face up to six months in county jail and a $1,000 fine if convicted.
